Isocyanate-free polyurethane-amines have been developed by reaction of IBMC and primary diamines. depending on the type of diamine used, molar ratios between diamine and IBMC and reaction conditions, it was possible to obtain amine-terminated intermediates with variable viscosity and hydrogen equivalent weight (AHEW). The intermediates were reacted with busphenol-A epoxy resins and reactive diluents and the final products were characterized. It was possible to obtain both flexible and rigid coatings, with glass transition teperature (Tg) variable between 42°C to 95°C, all characterized bygood adhesion and wetting properties. Some systems were obtained with particularly high elongation (>50%) and further tests are ongoing to fully characterize the performance proterties and optimize the formulations.
